The problem

Valuing a shotgun or rifle meant asking someone who might be buying it from you. There was no independent UK reference, and no way to search a catalogue where the same model is described a dozen different ways.

The outcome

Type in roughly what you have and the closest match comes back immediately, valued against recent sales in the market. Trigram similarity searching handles the fact that nobody writes a gun name the same way twice.
